Solutions provided by project partners of the Australian Internet Observatory

AIO is a collaboration between RMIT University, Queensland University of Technology, The University of Queensland, The University of Melbourne, Swinburne University of Technology and Deakin University.

Each research partner has provided tools, platforms, methods, datasets that may be useful to your digital research.

ADOReD

The Australian Digital Observatory Research Dashboard (ADOReD) is an interactive web based application designed to provide user friendly access to the ADO-API, to perform social media analysis. The dashboard allows users to interact with data present in the ADO databases, along with some of the topic modelling results and word embeddings that are generated by the ‘live’ machine learning pipelines.

Platforms & Services

NewsTalk

NewsTalk is an aggregator of reader commentary on the majority of Australian news web sites. We also harvest Reddit threads linking Australian news stories, providing additional coverage of Australian news commentary even when publishers don't support on-site reader comments.

Australian Mobile Ad Toolkit

The mobile app captures videos and sends them to the backend via API Gateway, triggering a series of AWS Lambda functions for processing, OCR, Meta Ad Library integration, and data polishing. Processed data is stored in S3 or a database and accessed through a dashboard for visualisation.

Data Donation Tools

Browser Plugin

The architecture for a Browser Plugin system designed to collect, store, enrich, and visualise social media advertisement data. The system uses cloud-based services provided by Amazon Web Services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

RAPID

Real-time Analytics Platform for Interactive Data mining (RAPID) provides an effective data collection mechanism through query expansion, numerous analysis and visualisation capabilities for understanding user interactions, tweeting behaviours, discussion topics, and other social patterns.

Data Download Packages

A Data Download Package system designed to facilitate the collection, extraction, inspection, and analysis of digital trace data donated by users. The system enables researchers to analyse structured data in a secure environment using a streamlined process.
