Get Started

Get started with AIO

Whether you are a qualitative researcher exploring digital data for the first time or a computational social scientist looking for more data, we are here to support you from your initial idea to final analysis. Follow these steps to engage with the AIO:

Step 1: Define your research question

Before exploring tools, clarify what you want to study and what type of evidence you need. Use the Resources sections on this website and relevant research to identify which modules and tools best meet your needs. If you are not sure what the best method or course of action is, visit our About page or reach out!

Step 2: Take a Closer Look at the AIO Tools

Match your research design to our infrastructure and explore the suite of tools we are offering. Consider which tools and methods match your research question, what type of data you need, how they contribute to other methods, and whether they align with your study design.

Step 3: Ethics Approval

If your research involves human participants or their data, you will need HREC approval. Visit our Ethics section for more information and a pro forma ethics template for data donation and AIO-supported research.

Step 4: Engage with our training

AIO training program offers multiple formats, including multiple training materials in the Resources section, in-person workshops, online events, and video modules. The AIO provides one-on-one engagement to help researchers answer questions and design studies using different tools.

Step 5: Create a Project

Once commenced, use our platform’s interface to create a new project, enrol participants, and manage donated data.
